BB Educar Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

  The BB Educar project is developed by Fundação Banco do Brasil, all around Brazil and can only happen because of the support and sponsorship of non-governmental institutions and civil organs. . The project is for young people and adults who aren't litterated yet and want to learn to read and write. The objective is to end the illiteracy in Brazil, through reading and writing dynamics between the students and teachers and between students. Besides that, the BB Educar intends to give a chance for poor people to have a good education and "curso supletivo".
 
  Since its creation in 1992, the project has already helped hundreds of thousands of people to learn how to read and write. The BB Educar brings lots of benefits to the comunity, as the panticipants create, for example, a shared vegetable-garden, courses for people who wanto to keep on improving their reading and writing, medical and dental assistance, etc.
 
  The project happens mainly in Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte e São Paulo, and has already graduated 31.562 volunteering teachers on the whole country.
BB Educar has won two prizes:

• Top Social, concedido pela Associação dos Dirigentes de Vendas e Marketing do Brasil-ADVB (Ano 2001)
• Destaque em Marketing Social, concedido pela Associação Brasileira de Marketing e Negócios-ABMN (Ano 2001)
